WWE is stacking up the fall with huge events. It was revealed earlier today that Money in the Bank would be moving to October this year. On Monday Night RAW today, we seemingly learned why.
Money in the Bank seemingly moved to the fall so the promotion could focus on Night of Champions and the King & Queen of the Ring Tournaments. June was full of tournament quarter and semifinals, and whoever won the finals at NoC would earn championship bouts at SummerSlam. Originally, MITB was set to take place in September.
Thanks for the submission!
Today, we learned that MITB would be delayed again, with WWE instead putting another Main Event on the schedule. During Monday Night RAW, Michael Cole confirmed that the company would be bringing Sunday Night’s Main Event to Atlanta, Georgia, in September. Specifically, the event would be held in the State Farm Arena on September 6. This was actually the original day for Money in the Bank.
With Money in the Bank pushed all the way back to October 10, this move gives WWE a lot of breathing room, and hopefully some time to freshen things up once we move past SummerSlam.
Sunday Night’s Main Event is set smack-dab in between the two-night SummerSlam and Money in the Bank. With the King and Queen of the Ring bouts possibly giving us some new champions at SummerSlam, this will give the promotion a little space to clean up several rivalries while setting up the next big championship opportunity.
WWE’s got a decent thing going now when it comes to earning title shots. In January, the Royal Rumble guarantees two Superstars a WrestleMania title match. The Elimination two months later does something similar, whether someone wins a title or wins a title shot in the structure.
With the return of King and Queen of the Ring, they needed to space everything out a bit. Now, up-and-comers or bonafied stars can earn huge opportunities, guaranteed ones, throughout the year.
