WWE Hall of Famer looks set to come out of retirement after 14 years for a match in AEW [Report]

Rumors that a WWE Hall of Famer would come out of retirement for a match in AEW have seemingly come true, as the legend looks set to lace up his boots for the first time in 14 years.

The legend in question is none other than Mick Foley. Foley, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame: Class of 2013, left the promotion after decades of service in December 2025. For those unaware, Foley’s departure from WWE stemmed from the company’s association with USA President Donald Trump. Following months of speculation about his arrival in AEW, the King of Hardcore finally made his debut at Double or Nothing last month. Shortly after his debut, Tony Khan declared the former 3-time WWE Champion All Elite and added him to the broadcasting team.

Many wondered whether Foley’s role in AEW would be limited to non-wrestling duties, though the legend himself has hinted at a return to the ring for one final match in the Jacksonville-based promotion. A new report now supports that notion. According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, AEW sources they spoke to believed that Foley is eager to wrestle one final match in Tony Khan’s promotion. Meanwhile, Khan is also eager to book this match should Foley get cleared.

WWE legend Mick Foley on what truly made him come to AEW

Mick Foley may have finally given us a definitive answer as to why he came to AEW. The legend discussed his arrival in a recent conversation with Ariel Helwani, where he revealed that the promotion’s handling of its mid-card was what drew him to the Jacksonville-based promotion.

“This is one of the first things I said to Tony [Khan] is that AEW has done a really good job at making their mid-card mean something. And that’s one place where I will compare the two companies and say they do a much better job in the mid-card,” Mick said. [H/T- @WrestlePurists on X]

We have not seen Mick Foley in All Elite Wrestling since Double or Nothing, suggesting Tony Khan is planning the right moment to reintroduce him. Time will tell when fans will next see Mick Foley on AEW programming.
