Ilia Topuria is confident of a quick and easy win over Justin Gaethje at the UFC White House event.
The lightweight champion defends his belt against the dangerous Gaethje; however, that doesn’t faze the Spaniard.
Topuria has always made confident statements ahead of his big fights. The difference is that he backs up all the talk and has won his last three fights via incredible knockouts.
‘El Matador’ brings up his training and camps regarding his dominance, and he did so again in an interview with Eurosport Espana:

“I don’t prepare to win, I prepare to dominate. I prepare to shine, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do against Justin Gaethje. Regardless of whether it was Justin Gaethje or anyone else, I would do the same thing.”
The champion also shared his prediction for the fight:
“Obviously, it’s going to be a first-round victory. A first-round victory.”
Topuria also dismissed notions of being arrogant and overconfident ahead of his fights. He pointed out how much work goes in the backend, which has led him to some decisive wins:
“A lot of people confuse arrogance with confidence. The truth is that I have complete confidence built on consistent work, built on tremendous discipline and humility. I take all my opponents very seriously.”
‘El Matador’ finished the segment by proclaiming he had already won, and that the fight on June 14 was just a formality:
“To me, the victory is already mine. I’ve already won. On June 14, we’re simply going to reveal the video that everyone is going to watch, showing how I win that fight.”
Check out Ilia Topuria discussing his fight against Justin Gaethje below:
Justin Gaethje is aiming to become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion for the first time, and he is willing to take the fight to Ilia Topuria.
In a recent interview, Gaethje wanted to bring Topuria down a notch and understood he was not the favorite for the fight:
“I love pressure, I love being the underdog. I love being counted out, and I love the fact that my opponent thinks he is some kind of God or king, because I get to bring him down and let him know he is just a human, like all of us.”
However, Topuria shot back at the American when speaking to Diario AS:
“He has the same speech as all my opponents, that he’s going to give me a lesson in humility, that he’s going to put me in my place, that I’m super arrogant. But, well, you know how all that ends up… Strength? Let’s see. He’s good. He’s a guy who represents danger. He has chaotic hands, you don’t know where he’s going to throw from… In that chaos, we’re going to bring him calm and anesthesia.”
