Rangers now ready to sell Youssef Chermiti on one condition this summer

Rangers could now cash in on one of Danny Rohl’s star players this summer amid interest from a European club.

Rangers name their price for star man

Much of the headlines in Scotland have been stolen by Lawrence Shankland so far this summer. He swapped Hearts captaincy for the chance to play for boyhood club Rangers, as the Gers set their sights on ending their wait for another league title next season.

Speaking about his move, the Scotland forward told reporters: “To join my boyhood club, somewhere that I’ve always had a dream to play, and to get that opportunity, especially in the later stages of your career, I’m just happy and excited to get that opportunity.

“It can give you that wee boost and hopefully it does going into these games.”

They could land their second signing of the summer.

Ibrox chiefs aren’t done there, either. Josh Windass, Dan Neil and Luke Graham are all names on their radar in what could be the start of a squad overhaul for Danny Rohl.

That overhaul may not come without certain sacrifices, however. According to Turkish reporter Sergen Dag, Rangers are ready to sell Youssef Chermiti for around £25m this summer, with the 49ers ready to green light Galatasaray’s move if they match their asking price.

The Turkish giants are on the hunt for a new striker and the Rangers man is now on their shortlist. Following the arrival of Shankland, it’s easy to see why those at Ibrox have been eager to name their price just 12 months after Chermiti arrived for around £8m.

£25m Chermiti could become Rangers’ record sale

He wasn’t always consistent in his first season at the club, but Chermiti did prove to be the man for the big occasion. Seven of his 15 Scottish Premiership goals came against title rivals Celtic and Hearts, but even that may not be enough for Rangers to reject a £25m offer for his signature.

If Galatasaray matched their asking price, Chermiti would become the most expensive sale in the club’s history. It would unlock instant financial freedom at a time when the Gers have already found their replacement in Shankland.

Whether Rohl would have something to say about that is the big question. He was full of praise for the forward in his first season at the club, dubbing him “outstanding”. Yet, even he may not be able to deny the impact that £25m could have on this current Rangers side.
