Eighth seed Mirra Andreeva will face off against 15th seed Marta Kostyuk in the semifinal of the 2026 French Open on Thursday.
Andreeva has enjoyed an excellent 2026 season so far. She kicked off the year by winning the Adelaide International title, defeating Victoria Mboko in the final. The Russian has been one of the most consistent players on tour, regularly reaching the latter stages of tournaments with a string of quarterfinal and semifinal appearances. She also claimed a claycourt title at the Linz Open and finished runner-up at the Madrid Open. At Roland Garros, Andreeva has defeated Fiona Ferro, Marina Bassols Ribera, Marie Bouzkova, Jil Teichmann, and, most recently, Sorana Cirstea 6-0, 6-3 to book her place in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Kostyuk also arrives in the last four in outstanding form. She began the season by reaching the final of the Brisbane International before lifting the Open de Rouen trophy with a victory over Veronika Podrez. Kostyuk then enjoyed the biggest title run of her career by winning the Madrid Open and chose to skip the Italian Open to focus on Roland Garros. Her run in Paris has included victories over Oksana Selekhmeteva, Katie Volynets, Viktorija Golubic, four-time champion Iga Swiatek, and, most recently, compatriot Elina Svitolina 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to reach her maiden Grand Slam semifinal.
Andreeva and Kostyuk are already familiar rivals, having faced each other twice on the WTA Tour. Both encounters came earlier this season and were won by Kostyuk, giving the Ukrainian a 2-0 head-to-head advantage.
(Odds sourced from BetMGM)
Kostyuk has the kind of game that can make Andreeva uncomfortable. She takes the ball early, plays aggressively off both wings, and doesn’t give opponents much time to settle into rallies.
Andreeva is one of the smartest tacticians on tour, but she generally prefers having a little more time to construct points and work her way into exchanges. Against Kostyuk, that luxury may not be available.
If Kostyuk is serving well and striking cleanly, she has the power to keep Andreeva on the defensive and prevent her from dictating patterns. The longer the rallies become, though, the more opportunities Andreeva will have to expose fluctuations in the Ukrainian’s game.
In this match, the advantage may lie with Kostyuk if she consistently takes the first swing in rallies. Her willingness to attack can prevent Andreeva from settling into the patterns she prefers.
Pick: Kostyuk to win in three sets.
Tip 1: Kostyuk will win at least one set with a score of 7-5 or better.
Tip 2: The match will have at least 20 games.
