Kyle Daukaus recently addressed his loss to Bo Nickal at UFC Freedom 250 and made it clear that he wasn’t done with the sport yet.
Daukaus is one of the most well-known UFC middleweights today and has an impressive 17-5 record, with one no-contest. The Philadelphia native notably scored 12 of those 17 wins via submission. Prior to the Nickal fight, Daukaus beat Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 322 last November.
While many thought Daukaus’ grappling skills would help him push Nickal to his limits, the 2019 Dan Hodge Trophy recipient wasn’t fazed at all. Nickal started the fight strong and showed off his incredible striking improvements. Before long, the Colorado-born grappling phenom had Daukaus on the canvas and rained strikes on him till the referee was forced to step in and stop the bout.
After his first-round knockout loss, ‘The D’Arce Knight’ took to X to share his thoughts on the defeat. Not one to give up after a defeat, Daukaus wrote:

“Grateful for an opportunity to be great. Back to the drawing board. Love this game no matter what.”
The UFC Freedom 250 card is part of the America250 celebrations and will feature an Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje lightweight title fight in the main event. Alex Pereira will go up against Ciryl Gane in an interim heavyweight title fight in the co-main event.
Meanwhile, high-profile MMA stars like Sean O’Malley, Michael Chandler, Derrick Lewis, and Diego Lopes all competed elsewhere on the card. A custom-made octagon arena called ‘The Claw’ has been constructed on the South Lawn of the White House for the fights. Seating arrangements have been made for around 4300 spectators, most of whom are members of the U.S. military.
