Lots of Climbing – BionicOldGuy

I signed up for a challenge to climb 7000 m (23000 ft) for the month of June on Strava. Trouble is I didn’t sign up till June 19th. I figured I’d already climbed a lot this month, but I forgot I don’t climb much by myself on the recumbent, so it turned out I only had 2600 m under my belt, so in the last 11 days of the month I needed 4400 m more. I’ve been scurrying since then and so far I’ve gotten another 2277 in as of yesterday, now I need 2076 more in 5 days. Note to self, next time join at the beginning of the month!

Last Thursday I rode to the Northwest of Morgan Hill on a nice day.

Saturday I meandered to the Southwest on a foggy morning. It didn’t lift till I was almost home.

Tuesday my group ride started from Mendoza Ranch parking lot at Harvey Bear County park. I love this ride on beautiful roads in the hills East of Gilroy. But I haven’t been riding my upright this far recently due to neck issues, and I don’t have a good way to transport my recumbent, so I just rode it to the start. I brought extra batteries just in case and needed all but one of them, because the ride was over 4 hours for me. The good news was that I earned 723 m of elevation.

Estates Rd on the way to Roop Rd was steeper than I remembered. This is “Gilroy horse country”
