Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive shows little sign of slowing down as the club prepares for a new era under Andoni Iraola.
The Spaniard is expected to be confirmed as Liverpool’s new head coach following Arne Slot’s departure, with attention already turning towards the players who could help shape his first squad at Anfield.
Several transfer stories have emerged over the past week, highlighting Liverpool’s determination to get back among the Premier League title chasers.
One name that continues to dominate headlines is Yan Diomande.
Reports from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg recently suggested Liverpool are pushing to complete a deal for the highly-rated winger before the World Cup begins.
Plettenberg also reported in May that Man City had held talks regarding Diomande, alongside PSG, underlining the level of competition for one of Europe’s most exciting young attacking talents.

The Reds are facing the prospect of his departure.
Liverpool have also been linked with defensive additions and further midfield reinforcements as Iraola begins assessing the squad he is set to inherit.
The expectation is that the new manager will look to put his own stamp on the team while also maximising the potential of the players already at the club.
There will inevitably be links to some of Bournemouth’s stars given the Iraola connection, and that stretches beyond the most-talked about names like Rayan and Eli Junior Kroupi.
According to journalist Jamie Dickenson, Liverpool are considering a £40 million bid for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, and Iraola could make him his ‘first summer signing’.
However, his report adds that Bournemouth value the England international at around £60 million, meaning there remains a significant gap between the two clubs’ apparent valuations.
Scott flourished under Iraola at Bournemouth and developed into one of the Premier League’s standout young midfielders during the 2025/26 campaign.
A reunion at Anfield would make sense from a football perspective, especially given Iraola’s knowledge of the player’s strengths and potential.
Scott is currently with Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in Miami and could make his senior international debut against New Zealand following an excellent season at club level.
Beyond the raw statistics, Scott’s all-round performances attracted widespread praise.
The 22-year-old became one of the key figures in Bournemouth’s midfield, combining technical quality with relentless energy and creativity. His ability to operate in multiple midfield roles also increased his value.
Liverpool are not the only club paying attention.
Dickenson states that both Tottenham and Man United are monitoring the situation. Spurs’ interest is particularly notable given Scott’s previously reported support for the north London club during his childhood.
That growing competition may strengthen Bournemouth’s negotiating position if formal offers arrive.
For Liverpool, much may depend on how strongly Iraola pushes for a reunion.
The new manager knows exactly what Scott can bring and may view him as an ideal fit for the high-intensity style of football he likes his teams to play.
At £60m, Bournemouth clearly consider Scott one of their most valuable assets. Whether Liverpool are prepared to approach that valuation remains uncertain.
What appears clear, however, is that the midfielder’s stock continues to rise.
After an outstanding season on the south coast and with England recognition now arriving, Scott has become one of the most sought-after young players in English football.
