Liverpool are now making progress towards securing the signature of an “unbelievable” player, with FSG keen to wrap up a deal soon.
With Mohamed Salah’s 10-year stint at Anfield coming to an end last month, the Reds are expected to be in the market for a new winger this summer, and former midfielder Danny Murphy has suggested a Premier League forward and Ligue 1 star could fit the bill.
Murphy named Jarrod Bowen as a viable target for the Reds, with the West Ham United man potentially set to be available for a cut-price fee following his side’s relegation, before also adding: “If you can persuade (Kvicha) Kvaratskhelia to come out of PSG because he’s won everything there and I know he’s got a liking for Liverpool, as he said in one of his interviews, but go for him by all means, because there’s no one better.
“But I just don’t see a risk with that because Liverpool have got so many other areas of the pitch to concentrate on, so much business to be done, that would kind of be like that sorted.”
In truth, the idea of signing Kvaratskhelia seems a little bit fanciful, off the back of PSG winning the Champions League for the second year on the bounce, but there has now been a further update on Andoni Iraola’s side’s pursuit of a potentially more attainable target.

According to Ben Jacobs, speaking to Give Me Sport, FSG are now keen to get a deal for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande wrapped up quickly, also reporting he is their clear number one target to replace Salah.
“I would say he’s Liverpool’s top choice, above Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise, who is quite impossible to get because Bayern Munich will refuse to sell.
“Liverpool have made progress on the player side in regard to Yan Diomande. They are relatively optimistic, within Liverpool, that Diomande would like to join.
“It’s Liverpool vs PSG for Yan Diomande for now.”
Unlike Kvaratskhelia, Diomande, who is valued at £120m, is yet to prove himself in the Champions League, but his debut campaign in the Bundesliga was more than impressive, picking up 12 goals and nine assists in 33 matches.
Scout Jacek Kulig has also been full of praise for the Ivorian, describing him as “one of the best players in Germany” and lauding him for his “unbelievable” form since signing for RB Leipzig.
The Leipzig star is still only 19-years-old, and he is capable of playing on both flanks, which indicates he could hold down a place in the Liverpool starting XI as a Salah replacement for more than a decade to come.
