Jimmie Allen’s Silence Costs Him $1.8M In Sexual Assault Case

Country music singer Jimmy Allen has been ordered to pay nearly $1.8 million to one of his sexual assault accusers after a federal judge entered a default judgment against him. According to new reports, U.S. District Judge Aleta A. Trauger ruled on June 18 that Allen must pay both compensatory and punitive damages to a woman identified as Jane Doe 2, who filed a lawsuit against the singer in 2023. The ruling comes after Allen failed to respond to the lawsuit.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE show Allen was ordered to pay approximately $597,000 in compensatory damages and roughly $1.2 million in punitive damages. The lawsuit accused the singer of assault, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. In her ruling, Trauger wrote that the alleged conduct demonstrated severe “reprehensibility.”

“The evidence shows that Mr. Allen intentionally and surreptitiously filmed his sexual encounter with plaintiff without her consent, and that he ejaculated inside of plaintiff without wearing a condom when plaintiff did not consent to him doing so and asked him not to do so,” the court documents stated. “These intentional acts caused plaintiff to suffer extreme emotional distress and trauma.”

The judgment followed an earlier recommendation from a magistrate judge, who advised the court to award damages for emotional distress, past medical treatment, future treatment costs, and punitive damages.

Jane Doe 2 Filed Lawsuit In 2023

The lawsuit was filed in June 2023 and alleged that Allen secretly recorded a sexual encounter without consent and continued engaging in sexual activity after consent had been withdrawn.

Jane Doe 2 sued the singer for battery, assault, invasion of privacy, and emotional distress. She also named Allen’s bodyguard and the company that employed him in the lawsuit. At the time, PEOPLE confirmed that a report had been filed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The allegations surfaced during a tumultuous period for Allen’s career, as multiple legal battles and public controversies unfolded simultaneously.

Jimmie Allen Faced Multiple Sexual Assault Allegations

Jane Doe 2’s lawsuit was the second sexual assault-related civil case filed against Allen in 2023. Weeks earlier, Allen’s former manager, identified only as Jane Doe, accused the singer of sexual abuse and assault over an 18-month period.

According to that lawsuit, she alleged there were multiple instances in which Allen forced himself on her and subjected her to abusive behavior. Allen strongly denied those allegations. “It is deeply troubling and hurtful that someone I counted as one of my closest friends, colleagues and confidants would make allegations that have no truth to them whatsoever,” Allen said at the time.

While acknowledging that he and the woman had a sexual relationship, he maintained that it was consensual. He claimed the relationship lasted “nearly two years” and said she had “never once accused me of any wrongdoing, and she spoke of our relationship and friendship as being something she wanted to continue indefinitely.”

Former Manager Later Dropped Her Claims

In May 2024, Allen’s former manager agreed to dismiss her lawsuit against the singer. At the time, her attorneys released a statement explaining that both sides had reached an agreement regarding the claims and counterclaims.

“We can confirm that Jane Doe and Jimmie Allen have reached a mutual accord as to Plaintiff’s claims and Mr. Allen’s counterclaims and have agreed to dismiss them. The decision reflects only that both parties desire to move past litigation.”

Despite dismissing her claims against Allen personally, the former manager continued pursuing legal action against Wide Open Music and company founder Ash Bowers.

Allen Claimed Allegations Devastated His Career

Following the lawsuits, Allen filed countersuits against both women and publicly maintained his innocence. In a statement released in July 2023, he said he was responding in an effort to “protect my reputation and refute these claims that have caused severe damage to my family, mental health and business.”

“I’ve taken a couple months before publicly responding to these claims, because I wanted to fix my family first. This situation has caused me great humiliation, and I felt it was necessary to seek professional help,” Allen wrote.

The singer also argued that the allegations significantly impacted his professional opportunities. “These false allegations have caused me to lose a vast number of business and endorsement opportunities that I worked extremely hard for,” he added. “These false allegations have also not only harmed me, but have caused severe financial damage to my band, my team and their families.”

Career Fallout Was Swift

The legal allegations quickly affected Allen’s standing in the country music industry. Shortly after the second lawsuit was filed in 2023, his record label, BBR Music Group, dropped the singer from its roster.

The once-rising country star had previously earned multiple award nominations and chart success with hits including “Best Shot,” “Make Me Want To,” and “Down Home.”

The latest court ruling now represents one of the most significant developments in the ongoing legal fallout surrounding the singer.
