The Indian national cricket team has received a major boost as the latest update suggests that Virat Kohli is expected to be available for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England next month.
There has been intense uncertainty surrounding Kohli’s hamstring injury that he sustained during the recent IPL 2026. He reportedly hurt his right hamstring during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. Still, he smashed an unbeaten fifty and helped RCB to lift the trophy.

Now, Jagran News journalist Abhishek Tripathi shared that the fitness report has already been submitted to the Indian cricket team management, and it has confirmed that Kohli is dealing with a hamstring injury. As a precaution, he has been advised to stay away from cricket for two weeks.

During this period, the right-hander has been advised to fully focus on recovery and rehabilitation, and that’s why he was ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home. But the medical team is confident that the former Indian captain will be fully fit by the time India travels to England for the white-ball series in July 2026.

The news will come as a huge relief for Indian fans as Kohli will be available for the three-match ODI series against England, starting on July 14 at Edgbaston.
Well, Virat Kohli is considered one of the greatest ODI batters the game has ever seen. In 311 matches, the modern-era batting legend has scored 14,797 runs at an outstanding average of 58.72, including the most centuries in the format—54 and 77 half-centuries.
Kohli is the first player to score 50 ODI hundreds. Additionally, the former India captain was the highest run-scorer at the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he scored a record 765 runs in a single edition of the tournament. He has also been part of India’s title-winning teams in the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, and 2025 Champions Trophy.
As captain, Kohli led India in 95 ODIs and won 65 of them. He scored more than 5,400 runs as captain at a remarkable batting average of over 72 while leading the team. And he is still one of the biggest legends of ODI cricket, and he is now aiming to play in the ICC World Cup 2027.
Recently, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has described Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as a “special talent” and asked him to continue playing the fearless brand of cricket.
Sharma was quoted as saying by PTI: “Well, he is an exceptional talent undoubtedly. I mean, the way he has played in this IPL is remarkable. The way he has hit all the first-class, international and world-class bowlers, that is commendable and I must say that he is a special talent. I really find Vaibhav very good. The type of fearless cricket he plays and the way he has hit world-class bowlers is commendable. The way he has hit those sixes is just unbelievable, for T20 cricket, he is just brilliant.”
