Jacob Fatu losing two consecutive matches to Roman Reigns isn’t the only setback he has suffered of late, as an injury is now keeping him out of action altogether. It’s being reported that, alongside The Samoan Werewolf’s back issue, it looks like he’s also suffering from ankle discomfort.
Fatu challenged Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash 2026 and later at Clash in Italy last month. Falling short of winning on both occasions, he was subsequently forced to acknowledge The Original Tribal Chief and rejoin The Bloodline as a subordinate to his much-popular cousin.
Thanks for the submission!
If this relegation wasn’t enough, Jacob Fatu is also nursing a couple of injuries. As per Ebou of Self-Made Sessionsthe former US Champion has hurt both his ankle and back. He also mentioned that the Tribal Showdown between Roman Reigns and Fatu in Italy was a mostly plodding affair due to the latter’s injury.
“The thing is, it looks like an ankle and a back issue. And I’ll tell you this. He was not particularly mobile at all in the match, which is why they did a really slow walk and brawl for a lot of it,” said Ebou. (34:43 – 34:52)
Fans have been voicing their concerns over The Samoan Werewolf being pushed down the card following his losses to Reigns. Bully Ray was more brutal in his assessment, saying it was a sign of WWE all but giving up on him.
Speaking on Busted Open RadioRay explained that he was now destined to be a sidekick in The Bloodline until the tides again shift in his favor.
“It almost looked like the Jacob experiment has come to an end,” he said. “He’s now a co-star in the Bloodline. We’ll see what happens. Remember, just a couple of months ago, there was all this discussion about whether Jacob Fatu could be the face of the place and the World Heavyweight Champion. A lot of people said, ‘yes.’ I said, ‘no.’ Jacob Fatu will never be what Roman Reigns is. Where he fits into this story moving forward, that remains to be seen.”
While it remains to be seen what WWE has in store for Jacob Fatu, one can only hope he gets healthy soon and doesn’t have to spend too much time away.
