“There’s a limited number of fights, and he can’t fight every single guy. So why don’t you guys figure [Iglesias and Sheeraz] figure it out, who wants to step to the front of the line,” Kellerman said on the InsideRingShow.

Kellerman rejected the idea that Canelo was dismissing either fighter.

“He’s not saying he’s ignoring Sheeraz and ignoring Iglesias. In fact, he just gave them a path. He said, ‘I’m fighting Mbilli. You guys fight each other. That’s not a duck. That’s about business,’” Kellerman said.

Sheeraz has already made it clear he has little interest in following Canelo’s proposed route. Responding to the suggestion in an earlier interview, the British fighter said he respects Alvarez but would not allow another boxer to dictate his career decisions.

A fight between Sheeraz and Iglesias could answer many of the remaining questions surrounding both men.

Canelo is preparing to face Mbilli, a contender widely viewed as one of the most dangerous fighters in the division because of his relentless pressure and high-volume attack. Meanwhile, Sheeraz’s two fights since moving up to 168 pounds have come against Edgar Berlanga, whom he stopped in July 2025 after Canelo had already defeated him the previous year, and 39-year-old Alem Begic for the vacant WBO title.

A bout between Sheeraz and Iglesias could eliminate many of the questions that still surround both men. Sheeraz would have the opportunity to silence critics who believe his super middleweight resume remains thin, while Iglesias could validate the growing reputation that has seen some fans label him the division’s boogeyman.

The winner would represent a bigger and more marketable challenge. Rather than facing Sheeraz immediately following his victory over Begic, Alvarez could meet an opponent coming off a defining win over another world champion, adding greater significance to what could be one of the final marquee fights of his career.
