If you go down the shock/stun route, Executoner is arguably the easiest class in Embers of the Uncrowned demo build. While right now we’re capped to only lvl 20 in this version, you can easily build the class to do regular PvE mobbing and bossing at the current power cap. For raids, you’re supposed to be something of a tank, but this build focuses on damage and plays as an off-tank instead.
So here’s how to level the Executioner to quickly beat the available Embers of the Uncrowned content in the Steam Next Fest demo, and how to build up from there.
The idea of this Executioner build is to Shock and stun your opponents through wide-AoE attacks. In many cases, this clears entire monster packs before they get to do any damage to you, but on the off-chance that they do, we’ll use a regen buff and a health ward to tank through it.
On the whole, the only downside of this build is the lack of meaningful control (since we get rid of Raging Rush early). The bulk of Embers of the Uncrowned campaign plays like any solo ARPG, so you’ll need stuff like Eslyn’s Fatal Arrow passive for enemy slows to tackle loot goblins.
Fortunately, you start with some of the tools right from the get-go. Use both Conviction and Strike of Reckoning as a spam spell for the first few levels. Your main damage source here, however, is your Eruption of Sinwhich will nuke all basic mobs once you get your first weapon upgrade.
In a basic mob fight, you want to:
For early bossing, it’s more or less the same, except

At lvl 6, you unlock the Guillotine Skill from the Talent tree. This, going forwards, will be your big clear as well as DPS ability for all the bosses in Embers of the Uncrowned demo. Switch out Conviction to slot in Guillotine, and you almost have the full setup that you’ll run for the rest of the demo.
Guillotine deals a high amount of damage in a wide area, but also locks you in place during the animation – much the same as Eruption of Sin. However, this one cannot be interrupted (even though you still take damage during the animation, and can, in fact, die).
The same principles as before follow for bosses. For bosses with a lot of mobility and kiting, wait for them to finish their maneuvers before you press Guillotine, because you can’t cancel out of it.
For mobs, the rotation becoems a much simpler Onslaught’s Roar > Guillotine to soften them up, and then a well-placed Eruption of Sin when there’s no immediate threat of you getting stunned.

At level 9, you get the Unfaltering Regeneration Skill, which you can replace Raging Rush with. This gives you the full Skill setup for a Shock Executioner build in EoTU:
During Raids, you have to switch out Unfaltering Regeneration and Eruption of Sin for Raging Rush and Taunting Cry (unlocked at lvl 20, keep Eruption of Sin in early raids before that). After all, this game follows the MMORPG tank-DPS dynamic, so you need to go for a little more utility, while other classes take on the damage duty.
Here’s the Talent Tree at Lvl 20:

Embers of the Uncrowned is limited to lvl 20 in the ongoing demo, and you can’t have one entire third of the Talent Tree. However, between the currently available archetypes, the shock/stun Executioner build easily beats out fire/explosion or spin-to-win shenanigans.
As for Bloodlines, go Mark of Struggle > Mark of Protection/Weakness depending on whether you want to lean more into damage or tanking up.
This build guide will be updated with gearing and red-rarity gear to fish for in the endgame of Embers of the Uncrowned. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more MMO guides on Sportskeeda.
