Condolences to former WWE Superstar Summer Rae

Former WWE Superstar Summer Rae took to social media to share a heavy personal update. Her post drew immediate support from the wrestling community.

The real-life Danielle Moinet shared last year that her grandmother passed away. The ex-Total Divas star took to her Instagram stories today to share that she is currently dealing with the painful reality of losing her grandmother.

She wrote that she is spending her final night lying on the living room floor of the house. Rae revealed she is finally tackling a task she actively avoided for an entire year – completely clearing out her late grandmother’s home. She told fans she has to “rip off the band-aid” and get it over with, despite dreading this exact weekend for a long time.

“The last night l’Il spend the night at my grandma’s. Been just laying on the floor in her living room alone. Tomorrow it all starts. I’ve put it off for 1 year so time to just rip off the bandaid. I gotta clear the house out.”

She further wrote:

“Been dreading this for years honestly, we used to talk about what I wanted to keep when she was gone. Just weird I’m actually about to do it. I just feel SO at home here. More than my home honestly. So many memories but I know she is no longer here & it’s just things’. I have to do it. I just don’t want to. Gonna be a hard couple of days,” wrote Rae.

Former WWE Diva Summer Rae admits she’s eager for a return

Summer Rae has revealed that she would be open to returning to the sports entertainment juggernaut in the future.

Speaking during an interview with talkSPORT last year, Rae admitted that she has been “itching” to get back into the wrestling world. While she has largely stayed away from in-ring competition in recent years, the former WWE star indicated that the desire to perform has never completely gone away.

“So, I was with WWE for six years, which is a good solid run. And I’ve been gone a little bit, went back three years ago for the Royal Rumble. They did not have an all-women’s Royal Rumble when I was growing up, and it was my dream. It was everything I wanted to do. We were on the road, gosh, a good 300 days a year. It’s completely nonstop, but when it’s what you’ve wanted to do, it doesn’t feel like work,” she said. “I’m still very good friends with a lot of the girls and a lot of the guys in WWE, and I still watch it avidly. I’m such a big fan, and it’s just a part of me. It always will be. And you know, I get the itch to go back all the time,” she added.

Rae signed with the Stamford-based company in 2011 and was released from her WWE contract on October 29, 2017. Her last in-ring appearance was in the 2022 Royal Rumble match.

It remains to be seen if the 42-year-old star returns to the WWE ring in the future.
