BREAKING: CM Punk-AEW Status Amid WWE Exit Rumors

WWE star CM Punk was signed to AEW from 2021 to 2023. He achieved immense success in the Tony Khan-led promotion, having held the AEW World Title multiple times. However, he was a controversial figure, and he left them on a poor note.

The Best in the World rejoined WWE in November 2023. He eventually became one of the faces of the Stamford-based company. He entered WrestleMania 43 as the World Heavyweight Champion, but he got dethroned by Roman Reigns. His reign lasted for 169 days. Following this loss, the 47-year-old has not appeared on World Wrestling Entertainment programming. It is not known when he will return, and this has led to several speculations.

Rumors suggest that CM Punk is departing the sports entertainment juggernaut. Interestingly, many believe that he will rejoin AEW. Only time will tell what the future holds for the Chicago native. However, these rumors have taken the internet wrestling community by storm.

The bridge between Punk and AEW burned a long time ago. But Fightful Select recently reported that not all hope is lost. According to this report, many people within the Jacksonville-based promotion believe that the bridge between the WWE star and the Tony Khan-led company will eventually be rebuilt, even if he never performs or works for them again. Punk had several conflicts there, and perhaps his relationship won’t mend with everyone involved. But as the saying goes in the world of professional wrestling, never say never.

CM Punk said that AEW President Tony Khan is not a boss

The Best in the World made an appearance on the MMA Hour in 2024. In this conversation, he said that Tony Khan is a nice guy, but he lacks leadership skills.

“I don’t like the drama, but the truth is the truth. He’s not a boss, he’s a nice guy, and I think ultimately that is a detriment to the company but it’s not my company. I’m an outsider. I thought I was brought in to sell merchandise and tickets and draw numbers for pay-per-views and stuff, and I clearly did that, but that’s not what the place was about, and some people didn’t like that,” he said.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for CM Punk. Hopefully, fans will see him in an AEW ring again someday.
