The India National Cricket Team and the Afghanistan National Cricket Team are currently gearing up for the upcoming three-match ODI series, and the young spinner Allah Ghazanfar is very excited for the actions. After spending the IPL 2026 season with Mumbai Indians, Ghazanfar is now eager to use everything he learned against India in the upcoming ODI series.
The IPL 2026 was a huge learning experience for Ghazanfar. He played alongside and against some of the biggest names in world cricket during the tournament and now he hopes those lessons can help him perform for Afghanistan in the tough ODI series against India.

Allah Ghazanfar has opened up about the Afghanistan National Cricket Team’s preparation for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the India National Cricket Team. The 20-year-old spinner revealed that when he and others were busy in the IPL 2026, the rest of the squad trained in Kabul. After this series, Afghanistan will host India in the white-ball series.
The young spinner feels that the time spent in India during the IPL 2026 has already helped him and his teammates adjust to the hot weather and pitches. So, Ghazanfar believes that the Afghan players are well prepared and confident heading into the ODI series against India.
Allah Ghazanfar was quoted as saying by Revsportz: “First of all, the IPL was very good for me. The thing is, it’s very hot here, so we adjusted a bit to the heat. Before this, we had a camp in Kabul, I think for 30 days. We were in the IPL, and the rest of our team was in Kabul. Their preparation was also very good. We have already adjusted to the pitches and the weather here. And we’ll see how it goes from practice, but the players are very energetic. God willing, the result will be good.”

Ghazanfar enjoyed an impressive season with Mumbai Indians and gained valuable experience by sharing the dressing room with likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. During the IPL, he bowled to Rohit a lot, and now he is aiming to use that experince against India in the upcoming ODI series.
The young spinner further added, “Rohit bhai is a legend and a very good player. My effort is… he opens the batting, and I bowl with the new ball. Whatever I have learned from him, I will use it to our advantage and see what happens. Yes, in batting… when I batted once, he gave me some tips at that time. So, thank you very much to him.”
Well, both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya declared fit for Afghanistan ODIs. When asked about his cricketing role models, Ghazanfar gave a heartfelt answer. The young spinner said the entire Afghanistan cricket team inspired him while growing up. Ghazanfar also revealed that he began his cricket journey with a tennis ball and gradually moved to hard-ball cricket in 2019.
He signed off by saying, “My role model is our Afghanistan team itself. We all used to watch our national team at that time, so our team was our role model.”
