Glasgow Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has to have a greater success rate in the summer transfer window than he had at the start of the year.
Ryan Naderi and Andreas Skov Olsen were brought in to bolster the attack and combined for just two goals in the Scottish Premiership in the second half of the season.
The German striker still has time on his side to make a success of his time at Ibrox, but the Danish winger has returned to Wolfsburg after the Light Blues opted against taking up the option to make his loan permanent for £8m.
Whilst those signings did not work out in the short-term, Rohl did hit the jackpot with the signing of Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens from Westerlo for a fee of £3m.
The 23-year-old talent started eight of his ten appearances in the Premiership and racked up five ‘big chances’ created and 23 key passes from a full-back position.
Rommens hit the ground running after joining from the Pro League, scoring one goal and providing one assist in his ten matches, and the club should be looking for more signings like him.
The Ibrox giants appear to be taking direct inspiration from their deal for the Belgian full-back, as they are now aiming to sign one of his former teammates.
According to TEAMtalk, Glasgow Rangers are interested in a deal to sign Westerlo right-back Bryan Reynolds in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Light Blues have already had an offer of £2.1m rejected and that they are now preparing a second bid for the star, who is valued at up to £4.3m.
It adds that the 24-year-old defender wants to make the move to Ibrox and is excited about this potential next step in his career, suggesting that personal terms will not be an issue.
It is now down to the board to improve their offer to a level that is acceptable for the Belgian team so that they can bring the American in as their replacement for James Tavernier at right-back.
The comparison to Rommens is an easy one to make because they both played as full-backs together during their time at Westerlo in the first-half of this season, but it is a comparison that makes sense on an even deeper level.
As aforementioned, the Belgian left-back caught the eye at Ibrox in the second half of the campaign because of his marauding runs down the left flank, consistently creating chances for his teammates with quality deliveries into the box.
Reynolds can catch the eye in the same way because he is also an attack-minded full-back who likes to get forward to put crosses into the box to create chances for his teammates in the final third.

The defender, who has been capped seven times by the USA, ranked highly amongst his positional peers in a host of key attacking metrics in the Pro League this season, which speaks to both his willingness to get forward and his quality on the ball at the top end of the pitch.
Reynolds, who was described as “rapid” by analyst Kai Watson, has the mobility and the quality to be an effective attack-minded full-back on the right side for Rangers, which could leave Rohl with two very offensive full-backs in him and Rommens.
On top of being a force to be reckoned with offensively, the Westerlo defender also helped his team to keep 13 clean sheets in 39 matches, and won 68% of his aerial duels in the league.
Like Rommens, who won 70% of his aerial battles in the Premiership, attackers rarely got the better of the full-back in the air, which shows that he can defend the back post well when crosses are whipped in over the heads of the centre-backs.
The Gers, therefore, could hit the jackpot again by signing another full-back from Westerlo this summer, as Reynolds appears to have the attributes required to hit the ground running at Ibrox in the same way that his former teammate did earlier this year.
That is why Rohl should be pushing the board to increase their offer for the defender in the coming days, to ensure that they win the race for his signature.
