Bangladesh National Cricket Team fast bowler Nahid Rana and Australia National Cricket Team captain Josh Inglis were involved in a heated verbal exchange during the ongoing three-match ODI series opener in Dhaka on Tuesday, June 9.
The incident took place in the 11th over of Australia’s chase against Bangladesh, moments after Nahid Rana dismissed Josh Inglis at Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. This happened after Marnus Labuschagne struck on box after dropping Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Young Bangladesh National Cricket Team fast bowler Nahid Rana bowled a blistering 147.9 kph back-of-a-length ball just outside the off stump. The ball was pitched just outside the off stump, and Australia National Cricket Team captain Josh Inglis attempted to play at the ball.
The ball was a little away from his body, but Inglis still managed to reach out to it. However, the Australian captain couldn’t control the shot properly because of the extra bounce and pace.
As the explosive right-hander poked at the delivery close to his body, the ball took a thin outside edge and flew straight behind the stumps. Bangladesh wicketkeeper Litton Das made no mistake as he completed the brilliant catch to end Inglis’ knock at 19 off 25 balls in the first ODI in Dhaka.

And then the real drama began. As Josh Inglis started walking back to the dugout, Nahid Rana celebrated the key wicket wildly. The fast bowler was pumped up and appeared to say something to the Australian batter, and this led to a fiery response from him. Rana and Inglis exchanged a few words in a tense moment.
As tensions escalated between Inglis and Rana, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and his teammates quickly stepped in to defuse the situation while taking the young bowler away from the Australian captain. He managed not to escalate the tension further and calmed down the two players.

Australia crumble under Nahid Rana’s fiery spell in Dhaka
Meanwhile, Nahid Rana was on fire with the ball in the first ODI against Australia. After removing Inglis, Nahid Rana gave Bangladesh a huge breakthrough by dismissing Alex Carey. The young pacer bowled a brilliant delivery from around the wicket that angled into the left-hander before straightening after pitching.
Carey tried to play the ball on the back foot towards the off-side. However, the ball found the outside edge of the Australian batter’s bat and went to wicketkeeper Litton Das’ gloves. Carey had to walk back to the dugout after scoring 47 runs from 62 balls, including five boundaries.
Rana struck again with a fiery delivery to remove Liam Scott. The Bangladesh pacer bowled a short ball at 146 km/h that bounced sharply from a back-of-a-length area. Scott tried to play a cut shot, but the extra pace and bounce caught him by surprise.
The ball took the outside edge and flew towards point, where Towhid Hridoy pulled off a brilliant diving catch just inches above the ground to send Scott packing for 2 runs off 4 balls. Now, Bangladesh are just three wickets away from winning the first ODI against Australia.
