Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Team India debut date revealed

Sooner or later, it is clear that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will one day play in the national team colors for the senior cricket team. His future looks brighter soon after the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee named the batter for a couple of T20I series in the United Kingdom, and for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan as well.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is in both of the squads for the T20I series against Ireland and England. Selection in the national side itself is a massive achievement for a teenage cricketer. It will be historic if the team management hands him his debut cap during the tour in the UK.

Aakash Chopra opines on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Team India debut

Will the 15-year-old batter make his debut against Ireland and England? In a video shared by CREX, former Team India player Aakash Chopra delivered his opinion on the future of Sooryavanshi.

Chopra reflects that the selectors pick the batter into the team as the 16^th player in the team. So, as of now, chances to see Vaibhav playing either against Ireland or England are very thin, according to Aakash Chopra.

“I don’t think Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will get a chance to play in the Playing XI. But this is also true. India’s future has become India’s present. He has been selected as the 16th player. And we have to admit that (0:13) what the selector himself said,” Aakash Chopra opined in the video.

Actually, Ajit said that we didn’t pick him. He picked himself. That is, it was such a great performance that no one had any other option. But, I mean, picking Vaibhav Suryavanshi is part of the squad,” he added.

Chopra emphasizes that sharing a dressing room with the best talents of the country itself will be a great experience for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, which is very necessary, especially for a budding talent. It is a process before taking the strides into the main arena.

“All kinds of experiences are necessary. You live in that dressing room. You start living in that environment. Become a part of it. That is necessary. So, that experience in the beginning. And then, when you get a chance,” he added.

The former cricketer asks Sooryavanshi to wait for a while

The former cricketer, now a cricket expert and commentator, said that when a player enters the process, the much-desired opportunity comes suddenly. Chopra suggests that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wait patiently. As there are players like Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma for the opening spots, it will be hard for Vaibhav to make a debut straightaway.

“Because it may happen that you have won the game. Or someone has had a niggle. Or some other problem. I mean, you wait. But will you immediately remove Abhishek or Sanju and give them a chance? I don’t see that happening. Or to be very honest, it shouldn’t even happen. Because then it will be unfair to Abhishek or Sanju,” Chopra mentioned.
