Chinese actor and model Jin Ze, whose birth name was Zhang Jiawei and who was also known by the English name Garvey Jin, passed away at the age of 33, at his home in Hangzhou on June 4, 2026. As per a report by Global Times, the actor’s management company, Shengshi Guangnian Culture Co., Ltd., confirmed the news through an official statement released on June 6.

The company expressed deep sorrow over his death and extended condolences to his family. It also requested that the public refrain from spreading rumors or unverified information regarding the circumstances surrounding his passing.

The agency did not disclose the actor’s cause of death and urged netizens and the media to respect the privacy of Jin Ze’s family as they handle funeral arrangements. News of his death had already begun circulating on Chinese social media before the official announcement.

The confirmation quickly became a widely discussed topic among fans. They flooded social media with messages of grief and remembrance. Many fans shared messages of grief on social media, saying they had been looking forward to his upcoming projects and were shocked by the sudden news.

Born on January 30, 1993, in Weihai, Shandong Province, Jin Ze graduated from Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. He entered the entertainment industry as a fashion model in 2013 before expanding into television and acting.

In 2016, he appeared on the music variety program I Can See Your Voicemarking his first on-screen appearance. He later made his acting debut in the drama My Fox Fairy Wifewhich aired in 2017.

Over the years, Jin Ze built a steady acting career through appearances in dramas such as Hello, Joann (2019), Forget You, Remember Love (2020), Begin Again (2020), Beauty’s Jade Dragon (2022), Don’t Fall in Love With the Boss (2022), Legally Romance (2022), Fake Princess (2020), and Give You My Heart (2026). In recent years, he became particularly active in China’s short-drama and micro-drama sector, where he gained a dedicated following.

As per Kbizoom, at the time of his death, the actor had an upcoming project titled Waiting for the Flowers to Bloom, Waiting for Your Return. The production had already attracted more than 1.48 million reservations on the Hongguo Short Drama platform before its release.

Jin Ze maintained a significant online presence, with his Sina Weibo account having more than 5 million followers. His final post, shared on May 6, celebrated the completion of filming for a new project in which he played the lead role.

Following the announcement of his death, tributes poured in from colleagues, and members of the entertainment industry as well. Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee, who worked alongside Jin Ze in Fake Princess and Give You My Heartshared a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Sharing photos of the pair together, she described him as a great friend and a kind person who took good care of her during filming. Lee recalled the enjoyable time they spent working together and said they had remained in contact despite their busy schedules. She concluded her message by saying that he would be missed and wished him peace.
