Paige Bueckers delivered a standout performance in the Dallas Wings’ 104-96 win over the LA Sparks on Friday. The guard posted 18 points and 14 assists while committing just one turnover, leading Dallas to its fourth straight win.
Real App highlighted Bueckers’ performance on X (formerly Twitter), hailing her efficiency and playmaking.
“Paige Bueckers in her career: 256 AST, 90 TOV. The fastest player in WNBA history to reach 250+ AST while having under 100 TOV,” the post read.
Bueckers fans used the opportunity to take shots at Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.
“18 points 50% fg 14 assists 1 turnover… W! Your friendly reminder, Paige Bueckers is better than Caitlin Clark. Always has been, always will be,” wrote a fan.
Others were more subtle with their jabs.
Bueckers and Clark have been compared since their college days, and that debate has carried over into the WNBA. Clark has posted higher scoring and assist numbers this season but has struggled with ball security. The Fever guard has 35 turnovers so far, averaging 4.4 per game, compared to Bueckers’ 17 turnovers at 1.9 per game.
Paige Bueckers’ performance on Friday earned her huge praise from fans as she showcased her efficiency. However, her lack of turnovers wasn’t the only talking point as she tied Arike Ogunbowale’s franchise record for most assists in a single game.
The Wings star reflected on this milestone moment during the post-game press conference.
“I think it was all planned to be able to share that with Arike,” Bueckers joked (Timestamp: 3:19). “My teammates did a great job getting people open, setting screens, cutting, moving without the ball. They made the game easy for me and made the reads simple.
“Assists are really just about giving to your teammates, so that’s probably the best kind of accomplishment you can have.”
The Wings (7-3) face the Minnesota Lynx (8-2) on Tuesday.
