A.J. Brown’s stint with the Philadelphia Eagles came to an end on Monday. After four seasons, the wide receiver was traded to the New England Patriots, reuniting him with his former coach, Mike Vrabel.
However, Brown found himself in hot water even before starting his stint with his new team. After his interview with Maria Taylor, where he admitted to leaking information to the media last season, another report from last year has resurfaced.
Thanks for the submission!

Back in July, Brown shared a post on Instagram where he urged fans to chant “1k” to cheer him on during his plays on the gridiron.
“I was just thinking, like, when Coop makes a play he does his celebration, which is lit, and everybody be like, ‘Cooooop’!” Brown said. “I’m just thinking, ‘What can I say?’ … I thought about ‘Brown’ and that don’t sound right. … so it got me thinking, it’s got to be like ‘1K!’ It’s got to be!”
The Eagles’ offense underperformed during the 2025 season. Furthermore, A.J. Brown had publicly expressed his frustration about the lack of targets, raising concerns about growing frustrations in the locker room.
While speaking with Maria Taylor on Monday, the wide receiver said he leaked stories to the media about the team’s struggles, but also justified his actions.
“It was done purposely to give us a push. … I knew if I said something to the media, it was going to propel us to work on it,” Brown said. “Nothing I said was for personal gain. It was always to help this team win and try to be our better self.”

A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts had a strong bond during the early days of their on-field partnership. However, cracks started showing last season, leading to reports of a strained relationship between the former teammates.
After his trade to the Patriots, Brown appeared on the “7 PM in Brooklyn” show and discussed his relationship with Hurts.
“Not as close as we once were,” Brown said. “No bad blood. There is still a lot of love. I love him. We haven’t been as close as we were for a couple years now, and that didn’t stop anything.”
Brown also decided to change his jersey number, transitioning from No. 11 to No. 1 to begin his journey with the Patriots.
