Barcelona have sent shockwaves through the transfer market by offering up one of their most exciting young players, putting Aston Villa, Leeds United and Sunderland on red alert.
All three clubs have reason to be ambitious this summer. Leeds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League and are hoping to become an established top-flight side. The same can be said for Sunderland, but they’ve also got European football to offer potential arrivals.
Better than Calvert-Lewin: Leeds line up move to sign £21m Premier League star
Leeds United have set their sights on a move for a new talisman this summer.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, are once again a Champions League side and could finally have the SCR wriggle room to welcome reinforcements if they sell a big name like Morgan Rogers.
It certainly creates quite the dynamic, as the Premier League clubs prepare to do battle in pursuit of an exciting Barcelona player heading for the Nou Camp’s exit door. And one side is already leading the race.
According to TeamTalk, Leeds are now well positioned to sign Roony Bardghji ahead of Aston Villa and Sunderland this summer.
Barcelona are ready to sell the 20-year-old, despite how highly they rate him, as they look to make room for reinforcements of their own.
The news certainly comes as a shock. Bardghji only arrived last summer and whilst he was limited to just 872 minutes in that time – the same as around 10 games – the winger was involved in six goals in all competitions.
It’s sparked a hectic race for his signature and one that Leeds look most likely to win – landing one of the most exciting young prospects that Europe has to offer in the process.
It’s not every day that clubs receive the green light to sign a Barcelona star, especially one that’s only been there a year. But today seems to be Leeds’ lucky day, and they must not waste their golden ticket.
With Bardghji available, those at Elland Road should go all out to welcome their best signing yet under the 49ers. Given that it’s likely to be on a permanent deal, that will mean shelling out a large fee, but there’s no doubt that the Swede could pay that back in full by realising his potential.
Dubbed “magnificent” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, the best is yet to come from Bardghji and Elland Road may have the privilege if experiencing that best form first-hand.
Whether Sunderland or Aston Villa emerge to put a pin in those plans remains to be seen. For the time being, however, it’s Leeds who are in pole position.
