Parenting influencer Jamal Morton is paying tribute to his 2-year-old daughter after she drowned in the family’s swimming pool.
“You were the best daughter a father could ever ask for,” Morton wrote via a GoFundMe, which was created on Tuesday, June 23. “Losing a child is a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I hate to make this post but y’all won’t be seeing me for a while. I have to take a break.”
He continued, “I lost my daughter. She thought she was a big girl and could swim all by herself. She walked out of the house and got into the pool where she drowned. I hope heaven is real because I can’t imagine you being all alone by yourself. So God, if you’re real, please watch over my baby. Rest in Peace, my sweet angel. Daddy loves you forever, Rose.”
Morton went on to ask fans to consider donating to his fundraiser, which has a goal of $6,500. (At the time of publication, the GoFundMe has raised more than $4,000.)
“Please help us send her home,” he wrote. “We have to move away because we can’t live in that house anymore, and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to work anytime soon. Anything helps.”
The fundraiser noted that a service for his daughter is set to be held on Sunday, June 28. No further details were shared.
Morton shared a similar message via Instagram on Tuesday, where he uploaded a video of his daughter blowing out a birthday candle. “Rip,” he wrote over the clip. He also uploaded several images from her Peppa Pig-themed birthday party in a separate Instagram post on Tuesday.
A post shared to Facebook on Wednesday, June 24, noted that Morton’s social media accounts “are currently being managed by his team.”
“At this time, he is not online, posting content, responding to messages, or actively managing his pages,” the message read. “Management is keeping his platforms running while he and his family take time to grieve the heartbreaking loss of their baby girl. This is an incredibly difficult time, and we ask for your understanding, prayers, and respect for their privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”
The statement continued, “Your continued love, support, and kind words mean more than you know. Thank you for standing with the family during this time.”
Morton shares parenting and family content on his social media accounts, which have amassed more than 2.6 million and 1.1 million followers on Instagram and TikTok, respectively. Jamal, who is married to wife Jessica Mortonhas nine children.
Jamal announced his daughter’s birth in 2024, writing via Instagram, “I would like to introduce you all to my beautiful princess Sadé Rose 🌹.❤️❤️ Welcome to the world baby girl.”
