My Adventures With Superman is adding a new character to its cast in season three, and it won’t be long before she’s flying off to her own spin-off series. Adult Swim’s animated superhero series will introduce Jessica Cruz in episode two of season three, “Mobile Suit Toyman,” and she’ll be voiced by Moana star Auli’i Cravalho.
Entertainment Weekly has a first look at Jessica, a future Green Lantern who is introduced in My Adventures With Superman as an average high school student. Jessica is also scheduled to get her own spin-off show, My Adventures With Green Lanternbut first, she’s going to serve as a lens through which the audience can better understand Supergirl (Kiana Madeira).

Showrunner Jake Wyatt explained, “We’d already planned for the second episode to showcase how Supergirl, in particular, was changing their world. We wanted to look at how different people had very different reactions to the same Kryptonian. So when word came down from the brass that Green Lantern was greenlit, we wanted our pre-Lantern Jessica Cruz to give us the girl-on-the-street view of Supergirl. How would a shy, relatively powerless teenager see this powerful, young super-woman out there changing the world? And what would it be like for Supergirl to see herself through Jess’s eyes?”
Jessica is the first human woman to join the Green Lantern Corps in the comics. In My Adventures With Green Lantern“shy and kind-hearted high school student Jessica Cruz” has her life upended when a Power Ring falls from the sky and chooses her to be its new champion. According to the show’s official description, “Things get even worse when more debris from the Lanterns’ ancient space war arrives—along with their alien foes. To protect the Earth, Jess will have to overcome her fears, anxieties, and your typical teenage drama to lead a new Lantern Corps. against a terrifying foe.”
My Adventures With Superman season three, episode two, premieres June 20 on Adult Swim.
