On Sunday, things got heated between Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese and Toronto Tempo forward Isabelle Harrison. In the middle of the third quarter, Reese got into a post position and got the ball. However, she was fouled by Harrison, who wrapped her arms around the Dream forward.
Both players went down, and Reese was not happy with the foul. As soon as she got up on the floor, the two-time WNBA star was heated and had some words for Harrison. The two forwards had to be separated from each other before officials could review the footage.
After that, Harrison was assessed a flagrant 2 foul and was ejected from the game. Even before that, however, the two have gone at each other throughout the course of the contest.
After she was ejected, fans defended Angel Reese online and called Isabelle Harrison out for her hard foul.
“And see, if Angel woulda slapped her she’d be the bad guy!” a fan said.
“Izzy foul asf for this. Ain’t no way you that mad gettin out yo body over some trash talk. She dead tried to hurt her on this play,” another fan commented.
“It’s funny i remember how much angel would hype izzy as she was coming back from her injury, idk where that shit turned but they’ve hated each other since the end of that 2024 season,” one fan said.
More fans couldn’t believe Harrison’s foul on her former teammate.
“That is just plain dirty play by Izzy smh,” someone commented.
“Izzy foul asf for this. Ain’t no way you that mad gettin out yo body over some trash talk. She dead tried to hurt her on this play,” a comment read.
“this s**t is ridiculous, got her stupid a** ejected in the 3rd quarter because she’s doing too much and the refs should’ve handled it earlier,” one fan commented.
Reese and Harrison used to be teammates with the Chicago Sky in the 2024 season.
The Tempo did a good job at holding Angel Reese to just three points in the first half of Sunday night’s contest. During the first and second quarters, Toronto was physical against Reese, resulting in her shooting 1-for-11 from the field. However, they could not keep her away from the boards, and she secured nine rebounds in the first half.
Before the start of the second half, Tempo coach Sandy Brondello addressed how they had defended Reese in the first half.
“We’re moving the ball. We’re getting stops,” Brondello said. “I thought we defended Angel Reese really well. Contested without fouling.”
Unfortunately for Tempo, their second-half efforts against Angel Reese and the team weren’t enough. Reese finished with 15 points and 17 rebounds on a poor 31.6% shooting. Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard finished with 26 and 24, respectively, leading to a 102-77 win for Atlanta.
