Reporter shares 4-word update on Vardy & Bannan as Sheffield Wednesday eye duo

Sheffield Wednesday have got their sights set on two statement-making signings in League One and an update has now been shared on the two potential deals.

The Owls will be desperate to bounce straight back to the Championship following such a difficult campaign last time out. Following plenty of misery off the pitch, those at Hillsborough at least had the chance to breathe a sigh of relief when the Storch consortium completed their takeover.

It came at the perfect time and means that Wednesday will have the chance to start next season without a point deduction, focusing their summer on potential reinforcements instead.

Forget Jamie Vardy: Sheffield Wednesday could seal an even better transfer

Sheffield Wednesday can finally plan for the future after entering a new era with new owners, who could seal a sensational transfer this summer.

Of course, there’s every chance that it’s a busy window on all fronts. It remains to be seen who heads for the exit door in League One and just who may arrive to replace any departed stars.

That’s not stopped the rumours from coming thick and fast, though. The likes of Svante Ingelsson have already been linked with a return to the Championship courtesy of West Bromwich Albion. But whilst losing their Player of the Season would be a huge blow for Wednesday, they could yet land two major stars in return.

Reporter delivers update on Vardy and Bannan

The two biggest names that have threatened to steal the headlines are Jamie Vardy and Barry Bannan. Both have been linked with shock moves to Hillsborough in what would make the Owls undoubted favourites to seal promotion back to the Championship.

Reporter Alan Nixon has now shared an update on the potential move, replying to fans about transfer news, saying: “Bannan … Vardy … possibles … maybes.”

It’s not a tell-all update, but it does suggest that the two stars are certainly in Wednesday’s sights. Vardy, of course, could be the most routine deal to pull off now that he’s left Cremonese as a free agent. The veteran forward is a boyhood Sheffield Wednesday fan and could end his career in fairytale fashion by taking the Owls back to the second tier.

As for Bannan, things could be slightly more complicated. The former star only left for Millwall in January, but has not received the role that he was expecting at The Den. Now, with new owners, a return to Wednesday could be on the cards in what would be a shock return so soon after his exit.
