Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes made an unexpected stop at a Little League practice in Wexford, Pennsylvania, on Monday evening. His surprise visit quickly turned into a memorable experience for the kids and their families as he spent more than two hours signing autographs, taking photos, and playing catch with young athletes.
The Pirates ace’s gesture prompted a proud response from his girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, on TikTok.
“Remembering your MLB bf is just a boy bc wdym he saw a little league team practicing while driving home and pulled over to show me and play catch with them,” Dunne wrote on TikTok.
Paul Skenes later shared what convinced him to make a stop at the Little League field, saying:
“There’s a lot of things that make [baseball] a business and it’s work, it’s a job for us for sure, but on some days more than others, you got to remember you love the game and why you started playing it in the first place. So, it was good for me to go and visit them.”
According to Skenes, he was driving by when he spotted the busy baseball field and decided to stop. He later joked that blending in wasn’t exactly his strong suit, saying, “I’m not very good at being incognito. Should have worn some sunglasses and a fake mustache.”
