Canada fans are expressing their delight on X after Jesse Marsch excluded Cyle Larin from his starting XI to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The two sides are set to lock horns in their Group B clash at the Toronto Stadium later today (Friday, June 12).
Maxime Crepeau starts in goal for the Reds, while Alistair Johnston, Luc De Fougerolles, Derek Cornelius, and Richie Laryea make up the defense. The midfield comprises of Tajon Buchanan, Stephen Eustaquio, Ismael Kone, and Liam Millar. Jonathan David and Tani Oluwaseyi start up front to complete the starting XI ahead of their FIFA World Cup clash.
Thanks for the submission!
Canada fans have been left delighted with Cyle Larin’s exclusion. The 31-year-old forward has a decent track record for the Reds, having scored 30 goals in 90 appearances across all competitions. However, he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last 14 fixtures on the international stage, with his last goal coming in October 2024.
One fan was happy after seeing Larin being named on the bench against Bosnia, posting:
“Cyle larin is benched omg couldn’t be more happier”
Another fan tweeted:
“NO LARIN LETS GOOOO”

Canada manager Jesse Marsch has provided an injury update on skipper Alphonso Davies and Moise Bombito ahead of their FIFA World Cup clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina later today.
Unfortunately for Canada, Davies isn’t at 100 percent after failing to recover from a hamstring injury that he suffered against PSG last month. Despite this, Marsch is hopeful that the Bayern Munich star will feature in their subsequent fixtures at the FIFA World Cup, telling reporters (via GOAL):
“We did an MRI with him [on Wednesday]. It showed very positive signs that he’s healing incredibly well, almost completely. We’re getting ready to ramp things up. I think that he’s showing, like he always has, a real good ability to recover from muscle injuries.”
“I think that having his private physio here has been very helpful, and the concentration on his body’s needs every day. And so we are really hopeful that over the next days and week that we can accelerate things and give him a chance to contribute here soon.”
Meanwhile, Bombito hasn’t featured on the pitch since October after the Nice centre-back suffered a broken leg. But Marsch added:
“He has made incredible progress over the past month, and certainly over the last week, and it made the decision relatively easy that we should keep him in the group. He’ll be ready to contribute tomorrow. He’s not fully at 100 percent but he’s reached his top speed. He’s shown in training that every day he’s getting stronger and better, and can focus more on football behaviours.”
While Bombito’s potential return would be a timely boost for Canada for the FIFA World Cup, Davies’ absence could prove to be a costly blow. The 25-year-old has been a reliable option for the Reds at left-back over the years, scoring 15 goals and providing 18 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions.
